The Slang Word

What is the definition of 'SLANG WORD',many of native English speaker use it, we often heard that they said strange word and gesture and it was difficult to understand. Actually, Slang is the use of highly informal words and expressions that are not considered standard in the speaker's dialect or language (Wikipedia.org) So Slang word is an informal expression and use in informal situation like friendship.
I have some Slang words as example, such as :
1. Benjamin mean money
2. Bunny mean rabbit
3. Elephant in the room mean ignore an obvious problem

Slang is sometimes regional, in that it is used only in a particular territory (see for example California slang), but slang terms often are particular to a certain subculture, such as music. Nevertheless, slang expressions can spread outside their original areas to become commonly used, like "cool" and "jive." While some words eventually lose their status as slang (the word "mob", for example, began as a slang shortening of Latin mobile vulgus[2]), others continue to be considered as such by most speakers. When slang spreads beyond the group or subculture that originally uses it, its original users often replace it with other, less-recognized terms to maintain group identity. One use of slang is to circumvent social taboos, as mainstream language tends to shy away from evoking certain realities. For this reason, slang vocabularies are particularly rich in certain domains, such as violence, crime, drugs, and sex. Alternatively, slang can grow out of mere familiarity with the things described. Among Californian wine connoisseurs, for example, Cabernet Sauvignon is often known as "Cab Sav," Chardonnay as "Chard" and so on;[3] this means that naming the different wines expends less superfluous effort.

Even within a single language community, slang tends to vary widely across social, ethnic, economic, and geographic strata. Slang may fall into disuse over time; sometimes, however, it grows more and more common until it becomes the dominant way of saying something, at which time it usually comes to be regarded as mainstream, acceptable language (e.g. the Spanish word caballo), although in the case of taboo words there may be no expression that is considered mainstream or acceptable. Numerous slang terms pass into informal mainstream speech, and sometimes into formal speech, though this may involve a change in meaning or usage.

Slang very often involves the creation of novel meanings for existing words. It is common for such novel meanings to diverge significantly from the standard meaning. Thus, "cool" and "hot" can both mean "very good," "impressive," or "good-looking".

Slang terms are often known only within a clique or ingroup. For example, Leet ("Leetspeak" or "1337") originally was popular only among certain Internet subcultures, such as crackers (malicious "hackers") and online video-gamers. During the 1990s, and into the early 21st century, however, Leet became increasingly more commonplace on the Internet, and it has spread outside Internet-based communication and into spoken languages.[4] Other types of slang include SMS language used on mobile phones, and "chatspeak," (e.g., "LOL," an acronym meaning "laughing out loud" or "laugh out loud" or ROTFL, roll on the floor laughing), which is widely used in instant messaging on the Internet.(From Wikipedia)

Wellhead has miraculously appeared in Kintamani

Wellhead has miraculously appeared in the hilly of Kintamani. Exactly in the middle of forest region between Suter Village and Abang Batu Village. Although that forest region was not a thick forest. That Wellhead was founded for the first time on February 09th, 2009 in coincidence with Full Moon Day by one of people around the village , Ni Jero Kembar while he was grassing for her buffalo.

At the beginning the ground was seen wet and after they walked over/stepped over the ground, the ground was loosed. After they dug the ground, a miracle wellhead ppeared. After discovering a miracle wellhead, there was many people came to see from close where miracle wellhead appeared.

Head of Suter Village,I Wayan Nyepeg, on Tuesday February 17,2009 said that it was a miracle found a wellhead in the hilly place, it is ussually the wellhead found in the low land not in the high land. After discovering that wellhead official of Suter Village will be conduct ceremony to commemorate this incident agree with their custom and tradition.

Regarding the posibilities to distribute the water from this wellhead to several villages he said that His official will wait about few months and it was possible to distribute the water that involving three villages.

The same things was said by I Nyoman Basma one of member of representative of DPRD Bangli after the founding of this wellhead. Many of people around the village used this water as a holly water. In addition, People in the village has waited water for long time, the appearance of this wellhead became a God wishes to them.

My future in My Hand

There is undeniable that all i have done is part of my future life. For my better future life i must prepare it from now. There is nothing will be accomplish if we don't plan it carefully. I have dreamed my life as simple as moving my leg to step from one place to another place.
When I was a boy, I was dreamed to be involved in Medical Associate. I imagined that become Doctor that has main job to serve people with giving touch from heart was something more than interesting. To serve people heal from sadness, disease, and heart feeling and give my shoulder to cry on will be a such unforgettable moments in life. I through my life with dynamic changing, found many interesting things, mourning, grievance, sadness that all mixed into one. All things that i have found is a kind of positive value to keep my life go smoothly to my future.
But all i have arranged in my mind when i was a boy was just a pure and true wish.
Then i realize that as a part of people I must involve and engage social intercourse, from there i got many inputs that enhanced my thoughts and maturity. I think no one can deny and avoid from social intercourse that can lead them in gradual changing.

In my way from a boy to a husband there was so many things accompanied my life with positive values. I try to see things from positive value after certain consideration.
In my thoughts all positive things in mind will results positive things in life. And in life try to analyze things you have judged negative values to be positive values and that will add your essence of life.

I have been working for....years ( Reflection from the past)

Dear All,
When I was in Senior High School there were many hopes in my mind there were also many dreams. For me hope and dream is a first steps of many action that i must go through and accomplish in my life. There were many stories i couldn't forget that always filled in my daily life. Sad and Happy, Mourning and Joy was mixed into one, but in those situations there were always true friends accompanied me. I passed my school with not disappointed result, i passed with average mark. Then i continued my study to one of my dream University, ITB and i chose field of Electrical Engineering.

Why I took this field?
Truly, this field was not my dream when i was in early Senior High School, my dream was become a Doctor. I just realized it when i was studying in ITB. I felt my heart was crying.
But soon after i graduated from ITB, i realized that wrong decision when i chose my field was not a big deal. I tried to learn that my field have many excellence points for my life, just positive thought. I begun find a pleasure of learning related to electrical engineering.
I didn't want to regret what i have done. I want my life goes on. Then with enough confident, i tried applying for job. There were many company i applied for. From long of searching and finally i was accepted in IBM as a contract employee and i assigned as i Series sys operator for BRI data center operation. Time was quickly passed, I have been working here for almost 5 years. I feel that my job experience is enough for me to search from within what will my future become and i must choose and decide.

Pengerupukan Day Without 'Ogoh-ogoh'

Dear friends,
On 10 Februari 2009, Bali Post reported that agreement meet from each of all Head Traditional Villages Denpasar on meeting about not conducting 'Ogoh-ogoh' festival on next preceding day of Nyepi Day 2009. Those agreements continued as issued Letter of Statement from regent of Denpasar as he agreed about the result of agreement from Head of Villages.
I Nyoman Suarjana said that as Balinesse Hinduism he couldn't understand the way of Head of villages and regent of Denpasar took the decision. Security Problem as mayor problem in conducting 'Ogoh-ogoh' festival and also in coincidence with next general election and Panca Bali Krama Ceremony in Basakih. They might think that Ogoh-ogoh festival could bother those activities.
The decision could deliver many protest from many part of people in Bali.
Low trust of government police institution become issued because they must keep peacefulness at any activities that conducted by people, they unable keep peacefulness during the event like Ogoh-ogoh festival.
Other issued ogoh-ogoh festival judge as activities that could make dirty of Panca Bali Krama Ceremony that will conducted in Basakih.

Most of prominent people in Denpasar sad about the decision because they couldn't see a positive correlation between ogoh-ogoh festival and Panca Bali Krama Ceremony.
We have known that people during ogoh-ogoh festival from year to year could control their temper and could express their art in building artistic ogoh-ogoh. We've also known that there was no any brutal and dispute during the festival. So why the decided to prohibit the festival?

They should negotiate with most of all other side in community before took the agreement, those include the police, balinesse traditional security, and also with prominent people that have skill to control their people.

On the List of New Seven Wonders...Where Our Borobudur Temple?

We have known that on the ancient list of seven wonder we could find Borobudur Temple as a Group of Seven Wonders of The World. But as Bernard Weber, from New Seven wonder Foundation conducted polling through Internet and Cellphone to revise a new list of Seven Wonder of The World, Borobudur Temple was not included again as a Group of Seven Wonders of The World. The resulted of this polling was announced on 07 July 2007 in Lisbon.
As your update here are The New List of Seven Wonders :
1. Chichen Itza in Yucatán, Mexico

2. Christ the Redeemer in Brazil

3. Colosseum in Rome, Italy

4. Great Wall of China, in China

5. Machu Picchu, in Peru

6. Petra, in Jordan


7. Taj Mahal, in India

And last as honorary status, Giza Pyramid Complex in Cairo, Egypt.

Why one of magnificent architecture from Sailendra Dynasty removed from this list?
Because polling conducted through Internet and Cellphone most participant come participant who have internet and this list was not reflect the participant of the entire world. We have seen that there was no campaign and publication regarding this polling in our country. There was no volunteer encourage us to vote our Borobudur Temple like in Brazil, In Brazil there was a morning beeping on cellphone for people there to vote Christ the Redeemer. I also worried that other countries that not included on ancient list then become included on new list did the same campaign like in Brazil.
But the list was not very important for us if we aware with our great value cultural heritage that has to be conserved. Moreover The Borobudur Temple had become the list of ancient seven wonders that might hard to forget.

The UNESCO that had no linked with The New Seven Wonder Foundation also said that to protect places that have cultural value simple making a new list not help their aim.

Circus is a word with a long, interesting history. It is a Latin word that means "ring" or "circle."

One of the most famous places in ancient Rome was the Circus Maximus. It was a kind of round stadium with rows of seats all around the inside of it. Roman citizens gathered there to watch races, games and violent, bloody fights.

The modern circus developed in the nineteenth century. It was a travelling show of animals and people working under a large tent, later known as the Big Top.

Travelling circuses were popular in the United States and Britain before eighteen thirty. A circus moved from town to town, putting on shows with trained animals, acrobats doing difficult tricks, and funny, colorful clowns.

Circuses still travel from place to place. And they still have trained animal acts, acrobats and clowns.

Today's circuses usually have three rings. Something different takes place in each of the three rings at the same time. The heads of people watching a circus turn back and forth as they try to see every exciting act in each ring.

The circus has been popular for so long that it is not surprising that words and expressions connected with it are part of everyday speech.

For example, the word circus is used to describe any noisy place with a lot of activities going on.

A teacher may use it when she walks into a room where the students are playing and talking, instead of studying. She might say, "This place is a circus. Calm down and get your work done." And if the room is really noisy, she may say it is a three ring circus.

Clowns are a very special part of the circus. They look funny with their big red noses, painted faces and clothes that are much too large for them. Everyone at a circus loves to watch the clowns do tricks on each other. Clowns have a real purpose: to make people laugh. They always succeed.

We use the expression to clown around when we talk about someone playing tricks and making jokes. Usually, a person is clowning around if he is being funny when he should be serious. In that case, you may get angry and say, "Stop clowning around. This is a serious situation."

The most celebrated American circus in the eighteen hundreds was P. T. Barnum's "Greatest Show on Earth." Barnum's circus had many new acts. He began finding and training unusual animals, not just dogs and horses.

One of the most popular of Barnum's animals was a huge elephant named Jumbo. Jumbo was very large, much larger than other elephants. Soon, anything that was the largest of its kind was called jumbo. Today, there are jumbo drinks, jumbo boxes of soap, and jumbo sales of cars.

Big wave has crashed Buleleng regency

The big wave has crashed most part of coastal region in Buleleng regency on Thursday afternoon until Sunday evening. This disaster has caused many of people's houses and farm land in severe condition. Ten people's house was demolished by big wave as reported by Bali post yesterday and about a hundreds hectares of rice fields was flooded with sea water. One of farmer that has great loss during this disaster said that the condition of most of their land was so terrible. Rice and vegetable that was planted look pale and near of dying.

Several region reported experience bad impact caused by the wave were Bungkulan vilage and Seririt district. In Bungkulan village there were many smaller village suffer this disaster badly such us Dusun Badung, Dusun Seme, Dusun Kubu Kelod and Dusun Dauh Munduk.
Some sources said that millian rupiah has loss because of this disaster.

Head of Bungkulan Village, Ketut Kusuma Ardana said that the impact of this fort coming year disaster was more destructive than was happened from previous year. He said that during disaster on previous year people around his region was able to saved their premier goods and other worth goods.

How to determine the Choices to result the list of Priority?

Dear Dud,
We have known that in our life there are so many choices, we must choose those choices as our part of our life. We must arrange those choices to result the list of The Priority Choice. The big problem come out, How to identify those choices? and How do we know the the choices that have the highest priority?
Lets us give some attention to the fact that :
1. Choices come to us with many kind of form and they are many choices available for us.
2. Choices come to us regarding to any field of our life.
3. Every people in this world without seeing their status cannot avoid the choices, they must choose.
4. There is always connection with the result of choosing from our previous life to our current life.
5. As a result there are many people live in different ways,different in happiness,different in fortune etc.
6...
Form the facts we cannot avoid the choices. And then how we prioritize our choice we have. To prioritize our choice we should :
1. Identify at least 10 most recent our choice we have. Pick 10 choices that linger every time in our head that push us.
2. From 10 choices, Identify and divide into 2 higher and lower priority. From groups of 5 higher priority we split again to have 5 list of priority.
Beside determining of priority we must also choose the right choices from available choices.

How to Live with our Choices

Dear friends,

Have ever you imagine that the most part of our life is full of choices. The choices sometimes make us confused which one of them to be chosen to avoid the mistakes. Sometimes the choices influence our life, with a good or smart decision of choosing we will get a better result for our life. The fact that, we all live with a different result of success. There are some groups of people live as wealth people with full of money, have their own firm manage and enjoy their happiness from their effort in their life. But other groups of people live in poor condition with no enough food, no cloth and no home. They only have food from piles of trash near restaurant at edge of street. They only put on dirty and torn cloth everyday without change it. We can find their sweet home at sidewalk, under the bridge and other dirty and improper place.

Well, we back with our topic about the choices. There are too many choices in our life, we must smart in choosing. We should arrange our priority from our choices. We put the first priority of the most important or critical choice. Then we list other choices as a second, third, forth and next as next priority. From this list of priority choices we can decide, act and continue our life with full of confidence.
As our conclusion, the choices we have now has a great role to the success of our future . We urge to be a smart chooser. We urge to analyze the choices to result list of priority and then to act and realize the priority.

The words during and while have similar meanings but are used differently grammatically.

Here is a very basic explanation:

The word during is followed by a noun or noun phrase:
- During my vacation in Geneva I made lots of friends.


The word while is followed by a clause (subject + verb):
- While I was in Geneva I made lots of friends.

You would also use while in cases where a clause is understood, but some of the words have been omitted:
- While in Geneva I made lots of friends.
(The words "I was" are understood in this sentence.)

Gunung Batur and Lake Batur Kintamani ...Part 2

Mount Batur is one of active volcano in Kintamani district of Bangli regency, Bali. Mount Batur is situated in the north west of Mount Agung. Mount Batur which has caldera 13,8 x 10 km is known as the most beautiful caldera in the world(van Bemmelen, 1949).
In the inner side of caldera was formed circle of caldera II which has diameter 7 KM. The foundation of caldera II was between 120 - 300 m lower of caldera I. In the inside of caldera there was crescent moon lake that was named Lake Batur.

About The Eruption
The Mount Batur has erupted several time since 1804 and the latest eruption happened in 2000. From 1804 until 2005 Mount Batur has erupted 26 times and the most errifying eruption was happened on August 2nd until September 21st 1926. The impact of those terrifying eruption caused Batur village and Batur Temple and also vilage near surounding of Mount Batur flooded with hot volcanic mud flow. After the eruption, the new Batur Village and Batur Temple was built in the sorthern part of Kintamani district.
Batur Temple has known as the most beautiful temple in Bali used to represent to honor of "Dewi Danu" the Gods of Water the same temple as in Lake Beratan.

About the resort
The view of Mount Batur was one of the main tourism resort for Bangli regency. According to the story of Balinese Lontar , The Mount Batur was the top of Mount Mahamera that was moved by Batara Pasupati as the palace for Dewi Danu. In particular occasion, most of Hinduism in Bali come to the temple for praying as a tradition to drive out bad plant disease.
The view of Mount Batur, Lake Batur and its caldera have been exposed as tourism resort. Other cultural resort that has attracted many visitor was Truyan Village. Trunyan village known as a village that has old tradition of native Hinduism from inheritance of Majapahit. Trunyan has a unique tradition when there is people died in the village, the dead body was not buried in the graveyard, the dead body just only laying on the ground, under the big tree named "Tarumenyan".

We suggest you to visit in the morning and you will see a combination of Mount Batur, The White Cloud, The Sun from East and of course The Lake Batur as a perfect combination.
